Family Love was founded in 1976 and is made up of members who worshiped together as a family during their teen years at the Greater St. Paul Baptist Church in the Hartford, CT area and who still love and treat each other as a family today. The project name, Lineage, is born from the strong family roots that first brought us together as a family in our house of worship in the 60s and 70s, and from the instrument, and music-filled basement of founder Ronnie Harris at his Andover St home in Hartford’s Blue Hills neighborhood.  Many rehearsals took place on Andover St preparing for the 1977 release of the group’s first album “A Different Drummer.”  Rahni owned his label, Emprise Records where he released A Different Drummer. The songs and music that were written and performed were always cutting edge and had an intense effect on the young people of our community. A mixture of R&B, Jazz, and Disco sounds was a part of the church choir’s extensive repertoire, with uniquely written lyrics that saved souls and changed lives. This reunion is based on the spiritual glue that has held us all together over 4 decades and is full of an endless volume of memories. Memories of our long choir rehearsals learning new songs. Many songs were written right there on the spot in rehearsal, learned, and sung the next day in Sunday service. Memories of no one wanting to go home but staying to continue singing and jamming to the music. The music in the choir and Family Love was never traditional church music. Even back in the early 70s, the music at Great St Paul Baptist Church was always fresh and innovative. R&B radio had nothing on the Youth Choir of Greater St Paul. We had the sound, but most of all we had the powerful messages full of the pureness of the Gospel that uplifted the people. Here we are now in 2022, stronger, better, smarter, wiser, and much more gifted and talented. Not just the members of the recording group, but those who were members of our amazing church youth choir as well. We’re ready to share the years of our family bond, love, and passion for music and reach the world with the Good News! This music project “Lineage” will ring and resound around the world the same way as A Different Drummer has done. Now, with better marketing, distribution, support, and God’s favor like never before. This project not only shares our deep love for God through our worship and spreading His Word, but it also reflects our pride, struggle, and strength as people of color in a country that has treated us as sub-standard for over 400 years. This music promotes Godly confidence and pride as a people and travels deep into the ills of society, exposing systemic religion, and racism, bringing messages of hope, workable solutions, encouragement, and the true knowledge of the mercy and grace of God.
